Mike's Missing Sock Hypothesis

I was doing laundry this morning and ended up with one white sock and one purple sock with no mates. Upon expressing my frustration to my husband he explained his theory of a garment industry conspiracy:

When they make the socks in Chinthaikerzpakisiamistan they use permanent dye on one sock and temporary dye on the other. This way when you toss the socks in the washing machine the temporary die washes out of one of the socks leaving you with two mismatched socks. Thinking that you are now down by two usable pairs of socks you will have to go buy new socks.

"And I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property -- until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered... The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." -- Thomas Jefferson wrote on May 28, 1816
